North Restaurant

Schneider & Associates opened in Tucson in 1999 to offer creative alternatives in structural engineering with cost-effective solutions. We’ve designed everything from award-winning residences and historic preservation projects to industrial clean rooms, high-rise offices, medical centers and resorts. We are known for our commitment to quality, client satisfaction and on-time delivery of our projects. We develop strong relationships with our clients – architects, municipalities, contractors and developers – who value what we bring to their projects.

”We focus on what the client wants to accomplish, then ask ourselves –
how can we make this happen?”
– Ron Schneider

Providing Innovation, Quality and Client Satisfaction

  • Our earth-friendly engineering earned platinum LEED certification for a Northern Arizona University research facility. Innovations included reducing the building’s carbon footprint 40 percent by lowering the concrete content and introducing fly ash, a by-product of coal burning. < view project profile >
  • Northwest Fire District Station 33 is a striking example of collaboration and innovation. Architects, the fire district, engineers and neighbors were engaged in the design process. Autoclaved aerated concrete walls insulate and sound proof the living quarters, interfacing with traditional CMU for apparatus bays. < view project profile >
  • Ventana Medical Systems wanted a cutting-edge image coupled with quick and economical construction. Tall concrete panels that tilt out 15 degrees helped achieve a clean modern look while meeting the criteria of the local building code. The shell of this award-winning project was completed in just 90 days.
  • The City of Tucson’s Westside Police Station was transformed from an aging K-Mart. The 128,000-square-foot project included renovating the existing building, strengthening the roof purlins and beams with state-of-the-art fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP), plus adding a new steel-framed auditorium and meeting space.
  • St. Andrews Presbyterian Church is a 29,000-square-foot two-story sanctuary and education building with exceptional acoustics. The steel-framed structure incorporates wood-timber columns and supports as well as large expanses of glass that provide abundant natural light.
  • Structural design is an integral part of dining at North Restaurant – with its curved façade, soaring exposed-steel ceiling and broad expanse of uninterrupted glass to achieve sweeping city views. We used light-gauge metal framing as the vertical support system, creating an open column-free dining room, and keeping costs down.
