El Rio Community Health Center

El Rio Community Health Center

El Rio has provided health care in Tucson since 1970, primarily to the underserved population. Tucson’s largest community health center desperately needed renovation. The decision to construct a new building was made in 2013. In the first of three phases, Schneider Structural Engineers worked with BFL Construction Company and BSW Architects to design, engineer and construct a 50,000-square-foot, two-story energy efficient facility that now allows for 72 exam rooms and 12 providers. The original facility served more than 15,000 patients per year. The new facility will provide for an additional 6,000 patient visits per year.
