Tucson Police Department Forensic Crime Laboratory

Tucson Police Department Forensic Crime Laboratory

The City of Tucson’s Forensic Crime Laboratory is the state’s oldest crime lab, dating from 1960. The new full-service forensic laboratory incorporates the latest in technologies, including a DNA lab and a ballistic shooting range. The two-story structure features a large atrium between the lab side and the office side. The lab is designed to meet strict vibration criteria (2000 micro inches per second) and its floor is isolated from the office floor. The 59,000- square-foot facility is adjacent to the Westside Police Station, which Schneider Structural Engineers also engineered. The building was constructed under CMAR and was designed utilizing BIM.
