In January 2013, Vail Christian Church purchased a 10-acre plot of land on Valencia Road for a new church complex. The project is split into several phases. The first and current phase includes a multipurpose building which will serve as the sanctuary until future phases are constructed. This multipurpose facility includes a wood-framed mezzanine and an exterior amphitheater on the south face. Four wood-framed, one-story classroom buildings for Christian education complete the major elements of Phase 1. Phase 1 also includes a traditional concrete over steel beam pedestrian bridge to span a riparian habitat wash to connect the campus with the parking lot along with a steel-framed entrance canopy and steel-framed baptismal. A future phase is expected to include a large Worship Center and Auditorium, along with two more classroom buildings and an administration/welcome center building. The centerpiece of the beautiful Cross Garden is a 30-foot tall cross constructed of a gabion basket stone structure designed by David Gibbens, P.E., Schneider Structural Engineers as a donation to the Church project.
When completed, the overall size of the complex will measure 40,000-square-feet. The following is a list of measurements by facility including the multipurpose building (Building 3) – 10,657 square-feet; the classrooms (Building 4) – 7,799 square-feet; the Baptismal – 426 square-feet; the pedestrian bridge – 741. square-feet, and the canopy – 859 square-feet.
