Principal Engineer/Office Leader

The Tucson office of Schneider Structural Engineers (SSE) is looking for a Principal Engineer/Office Leader. The Tucson office of SSE was established 25 years ago and has experienced proven success nationwide.

Overview

This is the highest level professional Structural Engineering position. As principal engineer, you will be responsible to the CEO for planning and managing the office strategic objectives in addition to directing, advising, performing, guiding and leading structural design activities. As the Office Leader you will determine the operational practices for the office, making sure it runs smoothly, cleanly, is upholding the ethics and values of the company, complies with corporate driven marketing campaigns and strategies and meets budget and invoicing goals. The Office Leader provides an important inter-office communication link.

Responsibilities

Business Development/Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for BD/Marketing for the Tucson office.
  • Assists other Principals/Office Leaders in developing new markets in local region as well as nationally.
  • Assists with expanding existing markets in local region.
  • Acts as market/division representative locally.
  • Reviews/develops all proposals for projects managed by their office.
  • Attends local marketing events.

Resource/Technical Management Responsibilities:

  • Supports PM’s on maintaining project schedule and budgets and acts as project executive to ensure clients’ expectations are being met on all projects.
  • Responsible for scheduling projects managed in their office.
  • Responsible for budgets of projects managed in their office.
  • Responsible to ensure QA/QC process is occurring.
  • Performs employee reviews of their staff.
  • Supports in implementation of company standards.
  • Assists in staff development and career planning.
  • Staffing

Financial/Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project budgets.
  • Assists in A/R collections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent people skills for mentoring, coaching and developing professionals.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in engineering and/or management.
  • Experience as a technical leader of a staff of engineers.
  • Licensed or be able to get their Arizona Professional Structural Engineers license.
  • Previous experience working on public and private design of the structuralengineering on building structures.
